Cursed Scroll #2 Campaign Recap

Our Cursed Scroll #2 Campaign comes to a close! Time for a recap!

Las Mil y Una Noches, by Gustav Weil

It was a wild ride. We defeated the mutated White Lotus and found the exit to the Paradise Prison… but then we decided to turn back and look for a bit more treasure. Next thing we knew, we’d triggered a flooding trap, been ambushed by Ras-Godai, and panicked our way into hastily asking an untrustworthy genie for a wish. We ended up sent back in time, which was actually kind of good.

Shadow Seventeen, my Ras-Godai, managed to rescue his infant self from the assassin clan. Narvey, our Desert Rider, became a mentor to his own father. Suren the Cleric used the genie to gain magical powers of evangelism. Darien depetrified the Glass Tigers, an adventuring crew the genie had previously turned to glass, and seeded the rumours that led us all on our first adventures. Torc wished for a sandwich, which was apparently okay-ish.

It was awesome! The whole thing was four sessions; it’s barely more than a one-shot, but the more I play these shorter campaigns, the more I become convinced this is the one true way. It’s so nice to wrap things up! I think six to eight sessions might be ideal. That’s a bit longer than we played, but we still haven’t checked out the level four adventure that comes in Cursed Scroll #2. We may yet be back to the Djurum!

The adventure Gabriel wrote for us took us from level 1 to 4. Challenges included sentient canyon-apes, false princes made of worms, mutated meditators, and scorpions in large numbers. If you want to take a look, I’m fair certain Gabriel’s posted it to his Patreon. I’d highly recommend it if you want to take level 1 characters into the Djurum.

Anyways, that’s our report from the Shadowdark. Our group is looking at a one-shot coming up (Blood Prairie? A Magnum Galaxy Games Mothership Module?) and then some Monolith. Exciting! Stay tuned for a review of that game and, if you’ve played some Cursed Scroll #2 content, comment down below. Let us know what you thought of it!

Like Shadowdark? We’ve got more than Cursed Scroll #2 content: check out these monsters and swords! And if Shadowdark isn’t your game, check in on our other stuff; there’s a bunch of it!
